Our Story
Our Story
Stellaris Keystone started with a simple belief: every person deserves to be seen, heard, and supported, no matter their age, their ability, or what they are going through.
Our team has spent years working in behavioral health and crisis response here in Virginia. We have sat with people on some of the hardest days of their lives. We have met adults with disabilities who wanted more from their days than sitting inside the same building, and older adults who felt forgotten. Again and again, we saw that what people needed most was someone who would show up, listen, and stay.
So we built Stellaris Keystone to be that someone.
What Our Name Means
"Stellaris" comes from the word for star. Stars remind us that every person has their own light, even when life feels dark. A "keystone" is the stone at the top of an arch that holds everything else in place. Put together, our name says what we hope to be for the people we serve: steady support that helps each person's light shine.
Where We Are Today
Today, through Keystone Connections, we help adults and older adults with developmental disabilities get out into their communities, build skills, and enjoy life on their own terms. We help new providers across Virginia build organized, compliant businesses through our consulting services. And through our nonprofit, the Stellaris Keystone Foundation, we are working to make sure more people in our region have a safe place to call home.
We are also building three new programs: Independent Living for young people in foster care, ABA services, and Pre-Employment Transition Services for students with disabilities.
We are still growing, but one thing will never change: we treat every person the way we would want our own mother, father, brother, sister, or child to be treated.
Mission, Vision, Values
What Guides Us
Our Mission
Our mission is to walk alongside adults and older adults with patience, respect, and care, helping each person build independence, stay connected to their community, and live a full life.
Our Vision
We picture communities where no one is left on the sidelines. Where an adult with a disability is a familiar face at the library and the local coffee shop. Where an older adult still has friends, purpose, and things to look forward to. That is what we are working toward.
Our Values
Dignity
Every person deserves respect, privacy, and a voice in their own life. We speak to people, not about them, and we never forget that we are guests in their lives.
Choice
The people we serve are the experts on their own lives. They decide what matters to them, and our job is to help them get there.
Compassion
We lead with kindness and patience, especially on hard days. We meet people where they are, without judgment.
Community
Everyone belongs in the community, not apart from it. We help people build real friendships and real connections close to home.
Integrity
We are honest, we follow the rules, and we do what we say we will do. Families and support coordinators can count on us.
Growth
We believe people can keep learning and growing at every age. Whether someone is 19 or 79, there is always something new to discover.
